Summer officially began in our house this weekend. Yes…we homeschool year-round, so our summer is structured a little differently. But have no fear…there will be much FUN, FOOD, WATER, GAMES and FAMILY to go around!
So, how does our summer and school schedule work? Well, not a lot different than our regular school year with the exception of a little more outside time! We still follow our “daily routines” in cleaning, laundry, school schedule, etc. We do take Thursdays off (Daddy’s full day off work) and sometimes Fridays too!
With doing school year-round, we can really take it easy around here. Some weeks we do more than others and some weeks we take off completely or just do FUN activities!
Another way we break-up these HOT sizzling days of summer is to send Mister Bull to College For Kids. Our local community college holds classes for kids beginning at age 5. You can sign up for as many as you like for only $30 a class!!! They have classes in computers, robotics (which he took last year and loved), math, art, music and so much more!! They do them in a way that captures the child’s interest, yet keeps them learning. For example, Mister Bull took a class last year called, “Crack the Code” where they learned how to create ‘secret’ codes and decipher codes. He had so much fun in that class. He’s all about the Super Spy stuff and being a “sleuth” these days.
What ways do you break up your summer? If you have year-round school, how do you enjoy the summer too?
Leave a comment for me or link up to your own post on the subject!!
Blessings,
Annette
